The Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) is the premier textile research and development arm of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
PTRI's R&D achievements through the years have contributed much to the textile and other allied industries it is mandated to assist.
As the industry evolved into what it is today, PTRI has adapted an integrative development approach to further stir the industry by:
- Weaving together the critical roadmaps as well as all stakeholders necessary for sustainable development;
- Acting as catalyst to spur growth in the industry through the planned development of growth centers and state-of-the-art service facilities for the textile and garments industries;

DOST-PTRI offers its developed textile technologies to the MSMEs for adoption. Such textile technologies may be integrated in their current business to improve productivity or diversify product/service offerings.
DOST-PTRI is an incubator that offers its range of facilities and services to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)/ business startups that are interested in developing products and or pursuing new business ventures using DOST-PTRI’s technologies but have limited resources to put up their production facilities.
Cognizant of the textile and allied industries’ need for skilled human resources, DOST-PTRI provides technical training to the textile industry sector and allied micro-, small- and medium-scale industries, entrepreneurs, and the unemployed that will ensure reliable and efficient work performance, production and increase employment. It extends technical support and expert assistance on human resources and skills development programs of DOST, DTI, and other government agencies for countryside development.
Textile processing services such as yarn spinning, weaving, knitting, textile dyeing and finishing are offered by the Institute through the Innovation Center for Yarns and Textiles.
DOST-PTRI Testing Laboratories offer various testing services for raw materials and products. We are committed to deliver high quality and timely laboratory testing and consultation services to the customer’s satisfaction while promoting quality assurance and consumer protection.
