The Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI) is an agency of the Department of Science and Technology. As mandated, it conducts research and development on wood and non-wood forest products, transfers technologies and provides technical services and trainings.
It is an ISO 9001 certified organization which is committed to provide the highest standard of service to its customers from the forest-based and allied industries and other interested parties within its resources following all applicable requirements and to improve the effectiveness of its quality management system at all times. DOST-FPRDI continually supports the forest-based and related MSMEs through its various technical services programs and offerings. As a research and development institution (RDI), it generates technologies, protects and commercializes them. In addition, the Institute provides the technical support needed to bring these to the targeted markets.
Technical services include:
• Promotion and commercialization of technologies/innovations through press releases, AV presentations, industry dialogues, forums, licensing.
• Conduct of business development studies and provision of similar services which include feasibility studies, business plan preparation, IP valuation and other market studies.
• Extend/Deploy/Transfer technologies, techniques, processes through skills training and installations.
• Package DOST-FPRDI outputs into suitable print, AV and digitized forms for dissemination to the Institute’s customers.
• Provide various testing services which includes: plywood testing; furniture testing; pulp and paper testing; physical and - mechanical properties of wood and non-wood forest products analyses; bio-energy testing; wood and non-wood preservation-related testing; anatomy and forest botany analyses/identification; chemistry and biotechnology-related testing; and formaldehyde emission testing.
• Provide technical advisory and consultancy services to its customers.
