Idyllic Summers combines the know-how of Filipino artisans and indigenous peoples with influences of contemporary resortwear.
A strong emphasis is placed on handmade, heritage crafts, embellishment and embroideries.
It is designed with a strong connection to childhood memories of summers in the Philippines; of lying under the shade of coconut trees, mindlessly frolicking in the sand, on the grass, absorbing the warmth of the sun.
Each collection is handmade by Filipino artisans, solely produced in the Philippines with the aim of supporting non-profit organisations, co-ops and indigenous peoples.
Meet the Founder
Former Harrods fashion buying assistant, Steffi Cua’s fashion career started in the Philippines as a designer to several well-known homegrown brands. She moved to London in 2014 to pursue postgraduate studies, graduating from the London College of Fashion with distinction in Buying and Merchandising.
Steffi cut her teeth in the buying offices of Harrods, working with high fashion brands such as Balmain, Alaia and The Row, curating the best ready-to-wear for their discerning clientele. Prior to this, she was in wholesale and distribution of CFDA Fashion Awards and LVMH Prize finalists such as Koché, Ryan Roche and Gabriela Hearst, often working hand-in-hand with global retail behemoths such as Net-a-Porter, MatchesFashion, Selfridges and Galeries Lafayette.
Whilst living in London, she found herself looking forward to summers and holidays back home in the Philippines: sunny and idyllic, which is a far cry from the cold and grey weather of the UK. This brought on the idea of Idyllic Summers, a womenswear resortwear brand rooted in her Filipino heritage, embodying the spirit of summer, encouraging us to slow down and enjoy life.
Idyllic Summers is an ode to her home country: the Philippines, her mother’s love for local and handmade, rounded by her experiences working amongst fashion’s top luxury brands and retailers.
