Sunki

Sunki is a low-impact clothing and lifestyle brand from Manila, Philippines. Our clothes dance (not walk!) the line between fashion, function, and Friday night margaritas. It was put together by four friends — Argo, Micah, Gaby, and Candice — who share a common love for two things: lowering carbon emissions, and feeling fly in a sundress with pockets.

Sunki was born when we noticed the lack of options for locally-made garments that were stylish, reliable, accessible, and most of all — were kind to the environment. It was even more frustrating, living in a continent where the majority of the world’s fast fashion production happens.

The name, Sunki (pronounced ‘sun-kee'), is derived from the Filipino word "sungki," which literally translates to crooked or misaligned teeth. And while we totally support good dental habits (mom, be proud), we welcome all kinds of imperfections and aren't afraid of a little bite. More than just another fashion label, Sunki aims to use its platform to take a stand against the many harmful practices of the fast fashion industry. As a brand from the Philippines, we’ve got a front row seat to the climate crisis and have started to feel its drastic effects much earlier than most countries in the rest of the world, which brings this cause even closer to our hearts.

Our clothes are manufactured in factories where tradition and human dignity trump over costs, and we make sure to source our materials ethically — all while upholding the highest standards of quality and transparency.

We believe that fashion is always political, and it is our duty to promote mindful consumption — of clothes, lifestyles, and ideas.
