Kultur Siak

Kultur Siak’s story begins in La Union, where bamboo weaving connects people, place, and generations of knowledge. In the hands of local artisans, a familiar material becomes a language of pattern, texture, and form.

Founded by architect Cesar “Cjong” Ocampo Jr., Kultur Siak brings an architectural eye to this living tradition. We work closely with weaving communities to create contemporary pieces that reflect where they come from and offer possibilities for how we live.

Our lighting, furniture, home décor, and architectural installations grow through collaboration. Ideas are drawn, woven, tested, and refined. The weavers’ knowledge guides the process, while new patterns and thoughtful proportions give each piece its distinct character. Made in small batches, our work carries the care and individuality of the hands behind it.

We find beauty in bamboo’s quiet presence: the rhythm of an open weave, the shadows cast by a light, the warmth a handcrafted surface brings to a room. These details shape objects that feel at home in contemporary spaces while remaining connected to Filipino craft.

As a design-led social enterprise, we believe that the future of craftsmanship depends on meaningful opportunities for its makers. Our work supports livelihoods for local artisans, particularly women and persons with disabilities, and encourages the sharing of skills with younger generations.

The Pedaso Collection reflects this spirit. Its reversible, interchangeable woven panels invite personal expression, allowing a wall composition to change with the people who live with it.

At Manila FAME, we bring this story from La Union into a wider conversation about contemporary Philippine design. Each piece offers a meeting of heritage and imagination, shaped by a community whose craft continues to evolve.
