ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Born and raised in the Philippines, Jill Lao spent seven years in a corporate setting before pursuing a career change in New York City. She graduated with a degree in fashion design from Parsons and quickly learned the industry ropes – notably at designer label Oscar de la Renta, contemporary brand Marissa Webb, and eveningwear and bridal studio Naeem Khan.
Informed by her stays in high-paced New York and nonchalantly cool Paris, Jill established her label in her hometown Manila to dress the modern woman – ladies who have transitioned from wearing the latest trends to favoring distinctive classics that are easy, elegant, and cool.
With an emphasis on sustainability and ease of dressing as a way of life, Jill aims to design multi-use clothing, fashion that is meant to last more than one season. Each piece is well-thought out and well-crafted – one that is designed to be cherished for years to come.
THE BRAND
A marriage of easy elegance and cool practicality, the label celebrates and enables the modern woman to move freely and confidently in her daily life. Jill Lao redefines femininity with dresses and separates that are first and foremost easy and comfortable to wear.
Our ethos is to create wearable pieces of joy. We design with the intent that our styles will last a lifetime, are not disposable, and can be styled with existing pieces in one’s closet. We manufacture with integrity and work closely with our sewers to maintain the high standard of detail. We are committed to responsible consumption and cultivating sustainable buying habits with our customers by creating with thoughtfulness and care, pieces that last.
