The Philippines strengthened its position as an emerging hub for sustainable fashion and textile innovation at Fashion InStyle 2026 in Hong Kong last April 27-30, where it served as the official Partner Country at NEXT@Fashion InStyle, the exhibition’s premier platform for next-generation materials, textile technologies, and sustainable design solutions.
The country’s participation was organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) in partnership with the Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Hong Kong. CITEM's flagship fashion brand FASHIONPhilippines, which represents Filipino fashion products for the international market, brought together 26 fashion brands and manufacturers. They highlighted how Philippine enterprises are transforming indigenous materials, traditional weaving techniques, and scientific research into commercially viable products that respond to growing global demand for sustainable and responsible fashion.
Throughout the four-day exhibition, the Philippine pavilion attracted significant interest from international buyers, designers, and industry stakeholders. It translated into USD 294,000 in booked and negotiated sales, and 309 trade inquiries from hundreds of international buyers.
“Our participation at Fashion InStyle 2026 demonstrates how the Philippines is creating greater value through innovation, design, and sustainability,” said CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido Ocampo. “By combining our rich textile heritage with research-driven product development, we are expanding opportunities for Philippine enterprises while showcasing solutions that address the evolving needs of the global fashion industry.”
At the heart of the Philippine showcase was the integration of traditional textiles and contemporary applications. Supported by DOST-PTRI's research and development initiatives, the companies presented pieces featuring indigenous materials such as piña, abaca, T’nalak, Hablon, and Inaul alongside modern textiles including denim, linen, and recycled materials. The exhibit demonstrated how Philippine manufacturers and designers are developing circular, market-ready products that meet international sustainability standards while preserving the country's rich textile traditions.

The Philippines also took the spotlight at The Runway through the Fashion Parade, a curated presentation featuring six Filipino brands–Bayo Manila Inc., Abacatek Musa Enterprises Inc., Raquel's Pina Cloth Product (RPCP), Thian Rodriguez, TagaYndan Inc., and Kimono Fashion House–that showcased collections ranging from garments made from textile waste and refined abaca fabrics to pieces incorporating heritage weaves and upcycled materials. Together, the fashion show highlighted the versatility of Philippine textiles and the creativity of local designers in translating cultural heritage into products for modern markets.
Beyond product presentations, the Philippines further strengthened its presence through a panel discussion, “Fashioning the Future in the Philippines: Trends, Transformation, and Opportunities.” The session brought together industry experts to discuss sustainability, textile innovation, and the future of Philippine fashion manufacturing. Conversations explored initiatives aimed at improving traceability and environmental accountability within weaving communities, as well as strategies for balancing large-scale production with the preservation of handwoven traditions and artisanal craftsmanship. The panelists were DOST-PTRI’s Director Julius Leaño; Ms. Anna Lagon of Bayo; and Ms. Lucia Capuyan-Catanes of Narda's Handwoven Arts and Crafts, moderated by Division Chief Boggs Leaño.

The Philippine delegation also expanded its reach through Home InStyle 2026. CITEM’s institutional booth featured artisanal tabletop and home décor products from six Philippine companies, generating buyer engagements from various markets.
The country's successful participation at Fashion InStyle 2026 reflects the growing international recognition of Philippine design, manufacturing, and textile innovation. By leveraging both heritage and technology, the Philippines continues to strengthen its position as a source of sustainable, high-value fashion and lifestyle products for the world.
In 2024, FASHIONPhilippines also spearheaded the country’s delegation at Centrestage in Hong Kong, known as “Asia’s Fashion Spotlight,” alongside over 250 fashion brands from all over the world.
Watch out for these brands and more at Manila FAME, the Philippines’ premier trade show for home, fashion, and lifestyle products happening at the World Trade Center Metro Manila on October 15-17, 2026.
