TWIST The very nature of transformation opens all beings to the possibility of surprise. The hand of the maker can touch an object, and this can lead to an awakening of ideas. Flat matter can be twisted, cajoled into lineations and forms, only limited by the maker’s ability and emotion. A transformation ensues- of textures and shapes, and with it, its shadows. The obvious transformation lies in the piece, of course, but underlying that is a subtle alteration of the maker himself, having formed a bond with his creation that elevates it from being a mere object.
