Makiling Threads

Makiling Threads is an eco-friendly clothing line that provides clean, timeless, and comfortable apparel. Makiling threads recycle used flour sacks into clothing to reduce water usage and textile waste. Each collection is meticulously crafted to ensure its one-of-a-kindness and superior quality while being produced slowly and ethically. The brand is influenced by minimalist fashion in order to create clothing that stands out in any season. We provide you with the option to dress it up or down by offering classic cuts. This allows you to maintain a fashionable look while remaining sustainable and comfortable. Making environmentally conscious apparel while giving a polished and classic look is the top priority to make certain of its uniqueness from other brands.

Makiling Threads launched on the 8th of April in 2022.  Due to the increasing amount of textile and water waste produced by the fashion industry, which may be detrimental to the environment, we launched this clothing line to promote the importance of sustainability in fashion. Since its launch, Makiling threads have encouraged people to exercise sustainable practices starting with clothing. From the recycled flour sacks to coconut husks button, the brands' intention and craftmanship heartily blend sustainability and flair. The uniqueness of the used flour sacks elevates each piece to a new level.  Aside from advocating slow and sustainable fashion, Makiling Threads aim to provide livelihood by reaching out to talented dressmakers.

Owned and founded by a college student, Daniella Alcasid, she brings forth new styles with classic cuts using recycled materials to boost appreciation for sustainable and slow fashion. Currently, she is an undergraduate taking material science to study textile properties that may motivate the innovation of sustainable fabrics in the future. With her love for fashion and science, she founded Makiling Threads to spread awareness of the relevance of slow and sustainable fashion.
